Horror Magazines Moot On The Rise

Carving my way through flesh and bone into an unknown universe of paranormal and horror exploration has lead me to discover many new fabulous things on the internet and at comic conventions. While at the Wizard’s World Comic Con in Anaheim, I noticed the red of Moot’s booth thrusting itself out of the blue and white surroundings like a fresh bleeding wound… it was MOOT – Today’s Amazing Stories with RyanNellis and his wife Cindera Che working the crowd with free copies of their Moot Mag in exchange for their emails. I went over and Ryan introduced me to his site http://mootmagmovie.com. Then his magazine.

Moot Mag in print. It felt nice to touch, smelled of freshly pressed ink, lots of cool imagery, and at a glance the writing read compelling and a lot of fun. It was great to find something new and different and with mysterious images and cool design. I’ve since had the opportunity to read Moot Mag and I was quite please by the writing. You’ll find stories of Maya’s Hyper-Sexual Haunting, Extreme Hunting with Conjoined Twins, Dragon People, and the story of V-man and his Biosapiens artworks. While these stories were of the unusual type, their cool sci-fi nature took them light years away from the stuff you find on that Christopher Poole, aka moot, 4chan.

At the Moot booth there were two monitors playing trailers from the Moot Movie that caught the eye of many a passerby. A robot mecha exploding in a gun battle after a wild performance in Club Deva of Asian witches zapping their costumes and make-up to change. When I got home I checked out the trailers and and an opening clip that really sets you up for understanding what the main character Mattox Durant this paparazzo turned paranormal investigator. Ryan told me at Comic Con that he’d directed the movie and did all the post production, which has taken years and will “hopefully” release this summer 2010 on the internet. So welcome to the new MOOT. I dare you to get mooted at http://MootMagMovie.com. I’m out for blood and zombies: a true horror mooter – I can now see the supernatural world that surrounds me everyday.
